**Icestar, his silver, gray, and white coat gleaming dimmly in the moonlight, addresses the clan members from Fallen Oak, a great mossy oak that fell during a storm one blustery night long ago. His sleak, powerful, lithe body was in a slightly tensed position.** My proud warriors, brave and true, my determined, loyal protectors, come forth. I summon you all to join in the territorial patrol. We shall circle, remark, and enforce our sacred borders as I see fit. As you know, it is not always a night time stroll, so be alert. Half asleep kittens don't do me any good. **In one swift, fluid movement, Icestar crouched and leaped from his platform on the half-rotted trunk. His snow white paws hit the sandy ground with a muffled, almost silent, thump. He gave a low meow and flicked his tail as he turned toward the slender landbridge that connected RiverClan camp to the rest of the territory. Icestar, in his quiet confidence, padded without further sound at a brisk trot, knowing the faithful will follow.**

**The gray and silver tabby swivels his ears to detect how many of his warriors follow. He reaches the edge of the narrow land bridge and turns to his single faithful follower. He grins and nods at her.** I suppose it is just you and me tonight, Silverpaw. No matter. We can take on anything that comes our way. **He returns to the crossing bridge and trots across the sandy barrier without losing a step, his balance complete and perfect.**

**Silverpaw feels a bit proud inside for that ir shall maybe be only her & Icestar, but almost forgets the bridge, & almost falls off it. she then found her ballance, then keeps following Icestar. she tries to keep balance, for she is not all so good at balanceing. she sniffs the air** is it just me or do I smell a fat mouse? **she sniffs again** & I smell a squirel. do you smell them Icestar?

**The confident leader chuckled quietly and stepped off of the small land bridge and padded soundlessly into the covering shadows of the trees which were quite long now that the sun was nearly set on the horizon. His keen senses were already tuned into the many diverse sounds and smells of the seemingly empty forest.** Indeed, Silverpaw. Prey is near.. Perhaps we shall be lucky enough to bring in a good meal tonight for our clan, ey? But our primary goal is to scout out the borders. **His words were purposefully silent and he know prowled among the undergrowth of the woods in complet silence. His movements were fluid. His lithe body slipped in and out of the shadows like a sliver of flowing water that makes no sound, but can glide across the surface without hinder. He was heading steadily for the northeastern border first; his eyes shone dimmly from the moonlight and were ever searching the forest for movement. His ears were pricked forward slightly. His tail would curl in a whipping motion every now and then.**

**silverpaw, for still lking hunting, theough not very good at it, sees a mouse with the corner of her eye. she gets int the pounce posotion,a bit lopsided, but still silent, she closes her eyes, & then.... POUNCE! She pounces ont eh mouse, trying to get it's neck to bite. but instead she bits off the tail, & part o it's leg. she spits the body pieces out, & rubs her mouth on leaf hoping Icestar won't think she ate an animal. but since the mouse had last a leg & tail, Silvepaw easilly bit it on the neck & carried it up to Icestar proudly.(because so many times she always misse sher prey & the get away)**

**Icestar, who had paused to watch the young apprentice stalk the mouse, nodded his head, pleased.** Good.. But you should level out your crouch a little- like this. **He demonstrated by lowering himself to the ground; his belly nearly on the leafy floor; his shoulders hunched downward; and his chin nearly touching the dirt. His balance was steady; his tensed muscles holding him in position.** See? Okay. We'll talk about this later.. Right now, we continue scouting out the border. **He rose ellegantly, gave Silverpaw one last encouraging nod, and wheeled around smoothly, briskly trotting on his previous course.**

I mean 2 fat moles south east. they are uderground, trying to get out. ha! **leaving the mouse behind on the leafy floor, Silverpaw jumps quietly by a mole hole, waiting for the prey to come out.** you can probably do tot he one right there! **she has her head point where anothe mole whole is**

OOC: Remember, Silverpaw, this is a territorial patrol.. Not a hunting party. Also, food and prey is scarce, not bountiful. I don't think it is entirably reasonable to catch a mouse and two moles at the same time. 'Kay?
BIC: **Icestar turned again and examined the mole holes.** Hm. **He shook his head and padded to where Silverpaw's discarded mouse lay.** You always burry your prey and return when you are done with your job, whether hunting or patrolling. **He promptly covered the mouse with dirt, loam, and a bit of leaves.**

OOC: K. I kinda did think that this was for hunting. so then, they are just walking around the territory?
BIC: **silvepaw nods in agreement. as she crouches down, she hears something scurring. She turns behind & sees one of teh moles scurry out of another hole. she tries to catch it, but trips on her tail.** meow. ** she then sighs** oh well. **she gets up, then walks next to Icestar** so, are we here to look to see if there are any bad things on out territory?

OOC: No. The territorial patrol is a patrol for scouting out the borders of RiverClan's land. It's actually a kind of doubles test field for promotions.. In other words, one can prove his/her skills in RPing here.
Basically, we are going around the boarders, keeping alert for any movement within or beyond our border-line, and re-marking the boarder if necessary. Let me make all the major stuff happen, though. I'll post if I want there to be a major conflict.. Just follow suite for now.
I would post IC, but I'm running short one time. I'll try to post again as soon as possible.

OOC: just wondering... what does 'IC' stand for?
|
|
|
Post by Icestar on Jan 30, 2006 18:59:54 GMT -5
OOC: "IC" stands for "In Character". Just as "BIC" indicates "Back In Character" and "OOC" means "Out Of Character".

OOC: I always called it BIC
BIC: **Spotchpaw runs up to the group panting** Hi. May I join you?

OOC: Yes, commonly it is "BIC"; but in some cases where the tense changes it is correct to use "IC".
BIC: **Icestar whirls on the young apprentice as he approaches. He is lowered in a crouch and is about to spring when he recognizes the she-cat.** Spotchpaw. **He raises from the ground and resheaths his claws.** You should never approach a friendly warrior like that. Warriors are trained to attack when an unknown object advances swiftly out of eye sight. **He softens a bit.** Very well.. You may join us. Remember, both of you, to keep your voices down.
OOC: In the furture, going on a patrol will be a activity that you will do on your own. This way you may have a chance to prove yourself worthy of a higher title. Over time you may be promoted if I see it fit.
Thus, I suggest that you both make sure you pay attention and take heed of what goes on here.
