A Redwall RP site that really needs members.
*You walk into Mossflower Woods, but things aren't quite as you left them. All around you, creatures are afraid and secretive. But what has caused the unfailing peace of this land to subside, leaving only danger in its place? The story is sad and cruel, and has been recorded only in the archives of Redwall Abbey. Unfortunately, that same Abbey has been destroyed, leaving a desolate clearing behind. Luckily, the archives have been saved, and are protected by the Hooded Legions. Change is rife in Mossflower Woods.
This is what happened:
A Sad Tale
Mossflower Woods, a peaceful haven for goodbeasts, is no more. The woodland remains, but both it and the surrounding country are immersed in war. This time, though, no vermin are involved. The tale is strange, but awfully, cruelly true.
A long time ago, ramembered only in the scrolls of the Hooded Legions, Mossflower was a land of peace and plenty. It was not to last. A huge drought engulfed the land, and crops failed three harvests running. In hard times like these, the only way to survive is to band together. The three most powerful families in Mossflower, the Cierrans, the Draenogs and the Ezekiels, had access to water and food, due to their wealthy status. All the creatures of Mossflower made their allegiances to one of the families, and adopted their name as their own. Yet supplies ran even shorter, and the creatures turned desperate. One by one, the families turned to raiding the others, and Mossflower soon descended into all-out war. The families changed to clans, and all beasts must fight to survive.
Even though the harvests have returned, enmities have been forged that cannot be forgotten, and so the clans still fight, dangerously blind to how unwise it is. The vermin stay away now, for all beasts are perilous fighters; those who were not died a long time ago. Now, their only enemies are the other clans. Honour must be upheld, and battles must be won. And so the sad tale dwindles even further into discontent, and nobeast is safe is Mossflower Woods.
The Hooded legions:
When the clans came into existence, and Mossflower descended into all-out war, a small number of brave beasts chose to try and stop the violence, and restore Mossflower to its previous peaceful state. It has now become clear that this will never be achieved, but they still try.
The Hooded Legions do their clan duties by day, but during the night they head to a secret cave in the heart of Mossflower Woods. In this cave is stored the entire archives of Redwall Abbey; it is the only safe place for something so important. Here, the Legion meets, discusses tactics, and stores weapons. Their mission is to stop the fighting and dissolve the clans. The legion is only open to extremely brave beasts, for they also perform night-time raids on the clan chiefs and members. Only those who outwardly support the clan system and fighting are attacked, for the members of the Hooded Legions are not bullies. They simply wish for peace.
